Chreece, Indy’s only hip-hop festival, returns to Fountain Square on August 23 with headliners Smino, MAVI and Audrey Nuna. Over 70 local hip-hop artists, DJs and producers will take the stage across eight venues in the neighborhood. Tickets are on sale now.

Chreece was founded by local hip-hop artist Oreo Jones in 2015. In its 10 years, the single-day celebration has featured headliners like Talib Kweli and Curren$y, drawing hundreds to Fountain Square.
“It has been a beautiful process, watching the growth and evolution of Chreece,” Jones said in a press release. “I never would have imagined the impact it would have on the city of Indianapolis. As this year continues, we vow to honor the legacy and history of Hip-Hop culture in Indianapolis.”

This year’s three headliners will showcase a new generation of stars in hip-hop.
Smino is a rapper and singer-songwriter from St. Louis, Missouri. His career started in 2009 while he was in college. He released his debut album, “blkswn” in 2017. Smino’s sound is a mix of funk and rap, or what he coined, “ratchet romance,” influenced by artists like Nelly, André 3000 and Lil Wayne.
His album, “Luv 4 Rent” which features J Cole and Lil Uzi Vert, peaked at 50 on the Billboard Hot 200. The album also received critical acclaim from Rolling Stone and NPR.
MAVI released his debut album, “Let the Sun Talk,” on his 20th birthday in 2019. The fully-independent rapper is known for his laid back flow and lyrical prowess. His 2022 album, “Laughing so Hard, it Hurts,” received rave reviews from NPR and Pitchfork. In August 2024, he released his latest album, “Shadowbox.”
Audrey Nuna is a Korean-American singer, rapper and songwriter from New Jersey. Nuna’s music fuses R&B, hip-hop and pop. The video for her 2019 single “Comic Sans,” featuring Jack Harlow, has amassed over 4 million views on YouTube. Her debut album, “a liquid breakfast” was released in 2021. In 2024, she released her sophomore album, “Trench.”
