No. 25 Pathfinder Tech (22), No. 40 Neighborhood House charter (20)

The Pioneers (13-5) showed all around dominance in their 22-0 win over Neighborhood House in the preliminary round of the MIAA Division V state tournament on Friday.

Kendra Burke took the mound for Pathfinder Tech, pitching a five-inning complete game, striking out 14 batters along the way. Burke also only allowed one hit and didn’t walk a single batter in the complete game shutout.

Addison Doktor was one of many Pioneers to have a successful day at the plate. Doktor notched two extra base hits, one exited the park, while knocking in three runs. Greenly Lagimoniere also went yard for the Pioneers while also driving in four runs on two hits.

With the win, Pathfinder Tech advances to face No. 8 Hopkins in the first round of the state tournament.

N0. 29 Springfield International Charter (11), No. 36 Excel Academy (1)

The Bulldog offense was clicking on all cylinders Friday night as they took home the preliminary round win.

Paving the way was Hailey Morin who went 2-4 in the game with two RBIs and a home run. Morin also kept Excel Academy quiet from the circle, giving up just two hits while striking out 13.

Also having a successful day at the plate was Gabriela Velez. Velez went 2-3 with two runs, one RBI, a walk, and stolen base.

In the first round, SICS will travel to face No. 4 Georgetown on Sunday June 1 at noon.
