Multiple sports stars made their presence felt at Met Gala 2025. Among them were Texan Olympians Sha’Carri Richardson and Simone Biles.
Biles was spotted first at Monday night’s event, making her way up the steps toward the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City with husband Jonathan Owens. For this year’s Met Gala, Biles wore a blue minidress that included a long train and collared neckline.
Biles also wore a set of color-coordinated heels. Biles joked about some of her outfit details in an interview with People over the weekend.
“I think they’re telling me I’m going to wear at least five- to six-inch heels, so that will be so interesting,” Biles said.
Biles and Owens were part of this year’s Met Gala host committee. The committee was made up of various stars, including Richardson.
This is the first Met Gala to focus exclusively on Black designers, and the first in more than 20 years to have a menswear theme. This year’s theme is based on the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s spring exhibit, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” The dress code for this year’s Met Gala was called “Tailored For You.”
A few moments after Biles and Owens arrived, cameras focused on Richardson. The former Carter standout wore a cream-colored Valentino dress that was highlighted by a lavender lace top.
“My look is inspired by Black power — by Black women power,” Richardson told WWD ahead of the Met Gala. “I want to represent the feminine power of Black women, and show that there is not just one particular way to be powerful and feminine at the same time.”
Richardson had a successful showing at the 2024 Paris Olympics, claiming silver in the women’s 100-meter finals and gold in the women’s 4×100-meter relay final.
Richardson notably made her first Met Gala appearance in 2021.
