The Pope Francis Cardinals (7-2) relied on some serious power Saturday afternoon to beat the Pathfinder Pioneers (7-4) 7-6.
Annabella Cintron and Taylor Moreau drove in all seven runs for the Cardinals.
Cintron delivered hers with a home run and Moreau brought the others home with a pair of deep shots.
Keeping the Pioneers just at bay was pitcher Gianna Percy. Percy allowed 11 hits and six walks but Pathfinder couldn’t deliver in the tightest spots.
Even when Pathfinder scored four runs in the final two frames, Percy and the Cardinals held it together to secure the win.
Offensively, for Pathfinder, Kendra Burke, Carly Juda, Greenly Lagimoniere and Emily McNeaney all finished with multiple hits. Their effort just wasn’t enough however, and the Pioneers will look to end their three-game losing streak against Hampden Charter on Tuesday.
Next, the Cardinals will try to win their third straight game when they face Renaissance on Monday.
