Police are investigating after a female victim was found dead Saturday night. Neighbors say investigators asked for doorbell video from the area.
COLUMBIA, S.C. — Crime scene investigators are looking into a suspicious death that was reported on Saturday night in Columbia.
Columbia Police said the deceased is female but didn’t say whether the person was an adult or a juvenile. The department said investigators learned that the victim doesn’t live or attend school in the area. The department said investigators were processing the location for evidence, and a viewer told News19 they were still at the scene around 9 a.m. on Sunday.
Neighbors said the incident isn’t common for the area.
“Pretty out of the ordinary. I feel like it’s more like a quiet little neighborhood, nothing too abnormal,” one neighbor said. “Everyone’s just like walking their dogs or just going for a jog or anything, so I wanna say, yeah, I’d say it’s out of the ordinary.”
Police have not provided an update in the case but said the Richland County Coroner’s Office is assisting in the investigation. Some residents said investigators had asked for their doorbell camera video. The Columbia Police Department said it would release more information as details become available.
